Welcome to my gallery
I was born and grew up in the coastal town of Seaham in County Durham.
Having lived in Wales and various places in England as an adult I have now settled in Northumberland.
A love of the coast is now rivalled by a love of the country, both have a great influence in my art. I specialise in wildlife, enjoying recreating the texture, colour and expressions of both animals and birds, however I occasionally indulge in landscape, seascape and still life as the mood takes me
Now my children have grown up and left home it has given me the time to indulge and develop my art, especially combining my love of wood with painting.
My Wildwood collection is continuing to excite my artistic senses. I am inspired by the grain, texture and features of the wood and add a painting that allows the wood to become an integral part of the art work.
I use many varieties of wood, Ash, Elm, Oak and more exotic such as Iroko and Wenge. Each wood presents its own challenges but these add to the sense of achievement when a successful work is complete
Reclaimed wood presents its own set of challenges but can be very rewarding
I always prepare the wood myself so I get a feel of each piece, which helps decide what to paint on it.
